This month the council has a full agenda including speakers from: Recology, SF PUC, BOS on SB 827, Neighbors on 250 Laguna Honda Development and the upcoming Mayoral forum.
What Bin Does This Go Into? –
Recology is changing the sizes of our black and blue bins to encourage recycling and composting. There are items we can now recycle or compost that we couldn’t before. A speaker from the Department of the Environment will answer your questions about what goes in which bin.
Increase in Water and Sewer Rates – Last month, the
SFPUC announced it would seek an increase in water and sewer rates – roughly $10 per month – to pay for infrastructure improvements. They are now taking public comment on the increase. Speakers from the PUC will discuss the increase.
Update on Supervisors’ Resolution to Oppose SB 827 – Last month, WTPCC voted to oppose SB 827, Sen. Scott Wiener’s bill to increase housing density near transit corridors, essentially overriding local zoning laws and planning codes, and upzoning nearly all of the City. We’ll hear the latest on where the Supervisors’ resolution to oppose SB 827 stands.
Update on 250 Laguna Honda housing development – The Mayor’s Office of Housing has pulled funding from a150-unit housing development proposed for the site of the Forest Hill Christian Church after a geotechnical report indicated the project would require extensive work to stabilize the hill behind the church. The project appears dead. A representative from the Forest Hill Association will update us on what happens next.
Contribution for Mayoral Forum – WTPCC has joined other West side neighborhood groups to co-sponsor a Mayoral Forum on Thurs, April 26 at 7 pm at the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. The organizers have asked WTPCC to contribute $500 to help defray the costs of the forum.
